Pico Laser delivers ultra-short pulses of energy that shatter pigment into tiny particles, allowing your body's immune system to naturally remove them over time. This technology is effective on a wide range of cosmetic tattoo pigments, often requiring fewer treatments than older laser technologies.

With over 10 years of experience in the cosmetic tattoo industry and advanced training through the New Zealand Laser Institute, we specialise in PMU and brow tattoo removal. We understand how different pigments behave and provide honest advice and personalised treatment plans to achieve the safest, most effective outcome. Where required, we also offer saline and glycolic tattoo removal to treat stubborn residual pigments that laser cannot remove alone.

Your journey begins with a thorough consultation where we assess your brows, discuss your goals and determine the most appropriate treatment plan. During the procedure, the Pico Laser delivers rapid pulses of energy into the tattoo pigment. Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band lightly flicking the skin, and treatments are typically completed within minutes.

Immediately after treatment, you may experience mild redness, swelling or frosting, which usually settles within a few hours to a couple of days. Over the following weeks, your body gradually clears the fragmented pigment, revealing progressive fading.

• Treatments are spaced approximately 6–8 weeks apart to allow adequate healing and pigment clearance before your next session.

There is no set number of treatments, as every cosmetic tattoo is different. The number of sessions depends on factors such as the type of pigment used, how deeply it was implanted, the age of the tattoo, the colours present, your skin type and your body's healing response. Because pigment manufacturers do not disclose all ingredients and cosmetic tattoo inks have evolved significantly over the years, results can vary between clients.

Many clients require 3–8 laser sessions, while more complex cases may require additional treatments. If you have microblading, it's important to understand that once the laser removes the darker pigments, a residual yellow pigment may remain.

• Yellow pigment cannot be effectively treated with laser, so saline or glycolic tattoo removal may be recommended to complete the removal process. During your consultation, we'll provide realistic expectations and create a personalised treatment plan to help you achieve the best possible result.

The ideal time to retattoo your eyebrows depends on how much pigment remains, how your skin has healed and your desired result.

• Most clients should wait until the skin has completely healed and the remaining pigment has had time to fully clear, which is typically 8 weeks after your final laser or saline removal treatment. This allows your brow artist to accurately assess the true colour left in the skin and create the best possible result.

In many cases, complete removal isn't necessary. Our goal is often to lighten the previous cosmetic tattoo enough to create a fresh canvas for new brows.

• During your consultation, we'll assess your progress and let you know when your skin is ready for retattooing.

Your natural eyebrow hairs are not permanently affected by laser brow tattoo removal. During treatment, the laser targets the tattoo pigment beneath the skin rather than the hair follicle responsible for hair growth.

Immediately after treatment, you may notice your brow hairs appear white or lighter in colour. This is called frosting and is a completely normal, temporary reaction caused by the laser affecting the pigment within the hair shaft. It does not damage the hair follicle or stop your eyebrows from growing.

The frosting typically disappears within a few days to two weeks as the hairs naturally shed or their colour returns. Your eyebrow hair growth cycle remains unchanged, and your natural brows will continue to grow as normal.
